Following departure from the pier you will have a short orientation tour of the city.
The first stop of this program will be Aladdin Mosque built by Aladdin Keykubat, the most renowned
of the Seljuk Sultans. The mosque was badly damaged in the raid of Byzantine Greeks, but restored
in 1268 by Süleyman Pervane. Subsequently it has been restored by Celalettin Beyazit and Prince
Isfendiyar in the period of Candarogullari, and by Governor Turan Pasha in the Ottoman Era.
Unfortunately its altar, a marvelous sample of Turkish engraving art, has been broken by the
collapse of the great dome.
Then you will continue to the Sinop Archaeological Museum. Good collections from the surrounding
area and several beautiful icons are on display in this small but nice museum.
The last stop will be the market area of Sinop. Here you will have the chance to observe the daily
life of the city, tasting a glass of traditional Turkish tea and seeing the ateliers/shops of traditional
nautical wooden carvers.
At the end of the program, you will return to the pier to rejoin the ship.
